Description
Frankincense essential oil properties
Frankincense essential oil is produced from the resin of Boswellia carterii, a small tree from northeast Africa, located in Somalia. From this resin is obtained the oil, a greenish liquid with a fresh terpene top note and a warm, rich and sweet balsamic undertone.
It has been used since ancient times as a vaporizing substance, in Egypt it was used as a mask, in cosmetics and in perfumery, where it can also be used for its noble smell.
The aroma of Incense is complex: Balsamic, aged wood, sweet and with citrus notes. It is associated in the Christian world with churches, as it was one of the gifts from the Magi to the baby Jesus.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the gum exuded by the tree is used for wounds, inflammation, and pain caused by wounds.
