Produced mainly in China, this plant is a perennial herb that has a very pungent rhizome root and has many uses in the food industry. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the rhizomes, unpeeled and dried. It is a yellow sometimes greenish amber liquid with a woody-spicy aroma. Depending on the origin, the odor can also be similar to lemon. It has anti-inflammatory and antalgic properties, general anti-infectious, is a digestive tonic and a nerve relaxant.
